Runway Re-Design: An Upcycled Fashion Show

May 19 @ 2:00 pm 5:00 pm

Join Shelton McMurphey Johnson House for this great fashion show on May 19th in downtown Eugene to see how about 20 talented fashion designers in our community breathe new life into old materials.

What is Runway Re-Design?

In the life cycle of all things on our little blue space ball, there comes a time when it gets ‘thrown away’. However, too often this is way sooner than it should be! The goal of Runway Re-Design is to prove that things that we normally use one way until we are ‘done’ with them for that specific use can be used in many different ways including as Fashion!

Studies have shown that almost a quarter of home textiles (think: towels, table clothes) end up going to the landfill! This year’s Runway Re-Design will feature new fashion made from a variety of home textiles that we have collected from our community. Our amazing designers will show how nothing should ever just have ONE life!

Runway Re-Design: The fashion afterlife

What could be better than taking a much loved but out of style tablecloth or 80’s curtain and giving a ‘new birth-date’? We are looking for 20 designers to take a home textile like the ones below and give it a new life! It can be a wedding dress for a new bride, or a summer outfit to wear to the beach… The only thing we ask is that it becomes something for someone to wear.

$20 A fundraiser for Shelton McMurphey Johnson House & Viking Textile Maker Hub.
