Holiday Night Out

December 7 @ 4:00 pm 8:00 pm

Free

The Downtown Eugene Holiday Night Out returns for its second year! Presented by Downtown Eugene Merchants and our community partners, the Holiday Night Out is your opportunity to come out a little later than usual and explore all that downtown has to offer.

  • The main event: The Kesey Square tree lighting! We’re excited to bring this holiday tradition back to Downtown Eugene. Join us at Kesey Square at 6:30pm for the lighting. We will be announcing our emcee soon.
  • Many downtown shops will be open late with cheer-inspiring events. Browse some of the best stops below.
  • Take advantage of extended hours, seating, and heaters with the food carts in Kesey Square
  • The S.L.U.G. Queens are hosting the first Holiday Night Out Nutcracker Costume Contest
  • Musical performances from the Churchill High School choir and the Eugene Springfield Youth Orchestra at the Farmers Market Pavilion
  • Catch holiday and non-holiday performances alike at the many performance venues in Eugene’s de facto arts & culture district.
  • And more!

The Nutcracker Costume Contest

Downtown Eugene will be brimming with holiday spirit, a cornucopia of shiny and slimy S.L.U.G. Queens, and with your participation, more Nutcrackers than we can count!

Your unofficial Eugene ambassadors, the Queens of the Society for the Legitimization of the Ubiquitous Gastropod (SLUG), are hosting and judging a Nutcracker Costume Contest during Downtown Eugene’s Holiday Night Out.

Get cracking on presenting your favorite Nutcracker persona! Bring the bling to the Farmer’s Market Pavilion between 6:00 and 7:00 pm to register for the contest.

We’ll have a Nutcracker catwalk—or should we say nutwalk?—at 7:15 pm with first, second and third place winners announced and fabulous prizes awarded. All ages are welcome.

Farmers Market Pavilion Performances

Over at the Farmers Market, we’re hosting a collection of activities and musical performances. Programming will start around 6:30pm.

  • Capture the magic of the season with a selfie alongside Eugene Ballet dancers in their stunning Nutcracker costumes! Find them from 7-8pm.
  • Performances from the Churchill High School Choir and the Eugene Springfield Youth Orchestra. Churchill goes on 7pm, and the Orchestra performs at 7:45pm.
  • Eugene Wordcrafters will have a table where children and adults alike can write letters to Santa from 6:30-8pm.
