Colors of Resonance

Our second world premiere of the 2023/24 Season, internationally renowned and Eugene-based composer Pius Cheung’s Hibiki (Colors of Resonance) is a marimba concerto unlike any other, certainly any other previously performed on the Silva stage (if there has been). The piece is only part of the concert, paired with Debussy’s poetic Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune, People Get Faces by Hildur Guðnadóttir (Academy Award and Critics’ Choice Movie Award winner for Best Original Score for Joker and Tár), and Witold Lutosławski’s Concerto for Orchestra, which highlights each section of the orchestra.
